On the upper floor is the living room which is cosy and well maintained, offering a corner sofa in front of the open fire-place. The property boasts satellite television which is ideal for children of you are looking for a few minutes peace and quiet. In one of the rooms there is a bunk bed, which can be accessed by a wooden ladder.
Marco studied the history of art and now he has turned to restoring antiques applying the skills he gained, this is apparent in the wonderful furniture within the house. The beautiful Tuscan characteristics of the house are largely due to Marco's passion for antique pieces, as well as the traditional terracotta floor tiles and chestnut beams.
A great deal of love is apparent in the garden. Between the vast array of flowers, shrubs and trees lies a swimming pool with its own decked area from which the vast and wonderful valley can be observed. There is ample garden furniture with beach chairs, tables and a wooden swing.
The closest village is Terontola and is approximately 2 km away where there is a train station (Routes to Rome and Florence), banks, a pharmacy, supermarkets and newsagents.
The old medieval town of Cortona lies approx 8 Km away and offers some fantastic restaurants, museums, exhibitions, concerts, many bars, arts and crafts and some of the best ice-cream parlour's in the world. In Cortona something is always happening. Much information is available on the internet if you would like to know more. It is a great place to see young and old mix in harmony of an evening on the piazza with an aperitif.
The Almond house is wonderfully located for sightseeing in both Tuscany and Umbria, and golfers have a choice of three excellent courses all within an hours drive. Excursions to Castiglione del Lago, Orvieto, Città della Pieve, Cortona Todi, Florence, Perugia, Rome, Montepulciano, Assisi, Siena and Arezzo are all within easy reach either by train or by car. We would recommend flying to Pisa, Rome or Florence. From Pisa or Rome we estimate a driving time of between 1,5 – 2 hrs and from Florence 1 hr. |
