The Castle is located on the edge of Umbria, 500 meters from the border between the small village Petrignano del Lago (Umbria) and Valiano (Tuscany). Surrounded by vineyards, sunflowers, and inspirational views of the Tuscan landscape, the owners Antonella and Massimo, former stewards, have created a paradise like haven for themselves and their guests. After they decided to retire from flying over ten years ago, they bought the castle (at the time in ruins), and lovingly restored it so that single rooms or the entire castle can be let.
The fact that Massimo is an artist will be apparent to you. His offbeat woodwork, sculptures, and paintings enrich the atmosphere of the castle including, of course, the individual rooms. You may visit Massimo in his atelier anytime; he will gladly explain his work to you. In the large garden, you can relax under the trees, listen to music or have a barbeque whilst you chat over a glass of regional wine.
Four rooms are available to let, two of the rooms can cater for upto 3 persons and the remaining two sleep 2 persons. All of the luxurious apartments are pleasant, large, well lit and offer a warm and friendly atmosphere. Each room has a bidet and WC. Guests can order breakfast from the owners on request if desired which will be served in the upper living / dining room of the property.
The Professore & The Suite have a double bed and also a single so can accomodate 3 persons if required. The cost per room is based upon 2 persons, however an additional person can be added for 30 € per week.
In the Gemelli room there are two forged single iron beds, which can be placed together if required to make a double.
The Suite is, as the name implies, the largest room and has a private antechamber to the bedroom, which has been furnished with both a double and a single bed. The bathroom, with its bath, bidet, and WC, has fantastic lighting and is a dream come true as it is set in the tower of the castle.
Guests who let the Castle as a whole have access to the large common room; The common room is a lovely place to sit and relax the, the wicker furniture and traditional antique cabinets invite you to sit and relax in this wonderful property. In additional to the common room there is a small fuctional kitchen and an aray of dining tables, This room is fully equipped with chairs and a piano, which provides the ideal setting for your family or group. *Please not that breakfast is not included in the price if the Castle is let as a whole*
The location of I Palazzi, between Umbria and Tuscany means that there is a plethora of things to explore and discover, whether on foot, by bicycle, by train or by car. The castle is close to many medieval towns such as Montepulciano, Cortona, Castiglione del Lago, Orvieto, Arezzo, Perugia and many other historical places. You will discover castles, fortresses, medieval villages, museums and, of course, the magical landscape that surrounds you wherever you turn.
Castiglione del Lago will act as your main shopping centre and is one of the most beautiful medieval towns by the lake. City gates and walls dating back to the middle ages surround the picturesque old town, which includes a piazza, a fountain, and a castle. There are many restaurants to choose from and the town's exquisite shops have much to offer. There are many smaller shops, selling typical products from the region and 3 large supermarkets. There are excellent transport links from the train station where there are regular services to the main towns and cities of Italy.
Be sure and visit cities such as Chiusi, Paciano, Cortona, Montepulciano, Montalcino (Sant´Antimo, Gregorian chants) Castiglione del Lago, Passignano del Lago, Perugia, Assisi, and Orvieto.
A comfortable, inexpensive train ride is all that separates you from Chiusi, Terontola, Rome, Florence or Orvieto. Buy regional goods in the village or the surrounding area. Ask for tips about restaurants, - the Umbrian cuisine is recognized as the best in Italy.

All holiday home prices are in € per week for the number of people stated in bold unless otherwise stated in € per day. The second number illustrated next to the number of persons who can stay represents the number of additional persons the property can cater for. Sofa beds are provided for additional persons unless it is otherwise stated that additional beds can be made available.
Accommodation weeks usually run from Saturday to Saturday and include linen, water, electricity, and gas unless otherwise stated. The heating costs and housekeeping fees are paid directly to the landlord and are dependent on usage. **Please be aware heating costs are expensive in Italy**.
Almost all landlords require a security deposit between 100 € and 250 € and for some of the more exclusive properties the deposit can be as much as 1000 €. The full balance of the deposit will be returned at the end of stay provided that the property is in the same condition and that are no damaged or broken items. All linens should be returned in the same number and unsoiled on departure. Terre Vitae reserve the right to request the balance due for any items that have been damaged and that have not been disclosed to the caretaker as a part of the contract signed prior to departure.
