| Description: |
At the heart of the garden is a large pool (12 x 8 metres), accessed via classical Scala Romana steps. There are comfortable recliners around the pool, supplied with cushions and two towels for each guest.
The focal point of the house is the living room/kitchen, opening out onto a covered terrace where the large wooden table and typical wrought iron chairs provide a setting you’ll be loath to leave.
The kitchen itself is equipped with dishwasher, microwave, toaster, hob (4 gas and 2 electrical rings), oven and a large fridge/freezer. If you enjoy cooking, you will love cooking here. You can make use of fresh herbs from the garden including parsley, thyme, rosemary, sage and oregano. There are spices, salt, pepper, vinegar and oil as staples. For a quick snack there is a table in the kitchen, for more leisurely meals take advantage of the terrace or the wonderful Tuscan table in the dining room.
The dining room was a former stable: a one-time manger, expertly restored, serves as a storage cupboard.
This lovely room is connected to one of the living areas by a stone arch. At the front, there is a large fireplace with seating, at the rear a cosy lounge with bamboo furniture that marries well with the Tuscan country simplicity. There is a bathroom with bath on this level.
A wooden staircase leads from the dining room to the upper floor. Here, yet another comfortable lounge contains sofas and chairs grouped round a fireplace. Four of the five bedrooms lead off this room, two double and two twin-bedded. All the bedrooms enjoy painterly views of the wooded hills. There are two upstairs washrooms, one with shower, one with both shower and bath tub. Lovely furniture and fittings, Tuscan terracotta floors, wooden beams and exposed natural stone walls combine with the generously sized rooms to impress: there is a total of 450 m² to spread out in.
The accommodation is designed for 8 people. A further luxury is a fifth double bedroom with its own bathroom, separate entrance and small patio. The owners call this the ‘grandparents room’, a perfect retreat until you are ready for the family turmoil again!
There is central heating for the cooler months, costs of which are included in the autumn/winter prices. The open fireplaces ensure the nicest warmth of all. It's a perfect house for any season.
You will be spoiled from the moment of your arrival – all the ingredients for a light supper and your first breakfast are there. (Pasta, pesto, milk, bread and jam).
It almost goes without saying that Villa Montanare is also a great base for excursions into Umbria (Perugia, Gubbio, Assisi) and Tuscany (Cortana, Arezzo and Florence) - to name only a few!

All holiday home prices are in € per week for the number of people stated in bold unless otherwise stated in € per day. The second number illustrated next to the number of persons who can stay represents the number of additional persons the property can cater for. Sofa beds are provided for additional persons unless it is otherwise stated that additional beds can be made available.
Accommodation weeks usually run from Saturday to Saturday and include linen, water, electricity, and gas unless otherwise stated. The heating costs and housekeeping fees are paid directly to the landlord and are dependent on usage. **Please be aware heating costs are expensive in Italy**.
Almost all landlords require a security deposit between 100 € and 250 € and for some of the more exclusive properties the deposit can be as much as 1000 €. The full balance of the deposit will be returned at the end of stay provided that the property is in the same condition and that are no damaged or broken items. All linens should be returned in the same number and unsoiled on departure. Terre Vitae reserve the right to request the balance due for any items that have been damaged and that have not been disclosed to the caretaker as a part of the contract signed prior to departure.
Please note that note that welcome packs are not provided by the owners on arrival and that some properties do not provide wine glasses.
